Are we vibecoder?

We all hear this: people call us vibecoder, or they ask “Are you a vibecoder?”

Let’s dive into it…

Are we really vibecoders?

There are a lot of questions about this, and it’s hard to answer clearly. I want to go deeper into it and compare a vibecoder with a programmer who just uses AI to improve their work.

If you are someone who learns, works, and fixes problems in tech and programming — even if you’ve only been doing it for a year, or you’re still learning logics and algorithms — you are not a vibecoder. Why?

Because when you work on a new project or want to build something yourself, you already know:

  • what a database is
  • which language and framework you should use
  • how these pieces relate to each other
  • and how they can be deployed on the real web

You can design the database structure yourself, or you can ask AI to create a model following best practices.

You can also review the code AI wrote and actually understand the structure it created.

A vibecoder just watches AI write some code, sees that it “works,” and says:

“Here I am, the god of programmers.”

But noooooooooooo… that’s not how it works.

That program will be trash and will waste your money too. It has no security. No real structure. And almost no real features.

A vibecoder who never learned algorithms, never learned basic math, never trained logical thinking, and doesn’t have a logic brain cannot create a real program, website, or anything meaningful just with AI.

Yes, AI is very powerful — that’s true. And tools like Claude and GPT(Astra) are really impressive.

But it still doesn’t work that way in the long run.

That program will later need to be optimized, developed further, and maintained. It needs someone who can explain it to other people and make them trust it.

So this is the difference:

A vibecoder just lets AI generate code and claims the result.

A real programmer uses AI to improve performance, fix bugs, find bugs faster, and make their own eyes sharper.

We review the code and the structure. We can understand whether there is a problem in the architecture or not.

Most of the time we create the structure ourselves, then use AI for the features. AI works on top of the structure we already designed.

It feels like we are hiring a senior developer who knows almost everything about coding and can help us bring our ideas to life.

I personally use AI to improve my performance, grow my knowledge, and onboard much faster on new projects.

I normally work with .NET, but with AI I was able to build one with Astro and the other with Next.js. They are simple, but good enough for what I needed.

In my companies I always use AI for development, code review, and solving problems.

So we can relax more and let AI work for us — while still staying in control.
